Wine and chocolate are certified bangers - two of life’s best guilty pleasures. Usually people would say “uhhh, don’t mix those because the chocolate will affect the taste of the wine… blah blah blah”. WRONG. You do you and we’ll do us. So, if you want to mix the two into one tasty treat… well, this recipe just might be the ticket.
Here’s how to make red wine brownies.
Gluten-free/vegan brownie mix
Now you might think using a packet brownie mix is a cop-out, but hear us out. We tried to go all Nara Smith and make it from scratch, but it was a bit of an effort. This way, it gets you into the goods quicker, so it’s a win in our books.
Preheat your oven to the temp it says on the back of the box (usually 180ºC).
2
Get a big bowl and drop in your brownie mix ingredients.
3
Now for the fun part! Pour out 125ml of wine, add it to the bowl, then mix it up. Hot tip: you can add extra bits of chocolate, nuts, or dried fruit (weirdo) as well. Just make sure it’s stirred in nicely with the rest of the mixture.
4
Grease a square baking tray and pour in your mixture.
5
Place in the oven to bake. (Once again, the packet should have all the deets).
6
Once you’ve stabbed the mixture with a knife/fork/skewer (anything that’s long + sharp) and it comes out dry, you’re ready to go! Pull it out and let it cool.
7
Dust with icing sugar to serve and try not to eat it all in one go.
