Brûlée Blood Orange Bourbon Sour

Whiskey sours = underrated. Blood orange = chronically underrated. So when you mix the two together, you get the most under-the-radar cocktail this side of a mojito. Sweet, sour and fresh, this Brûlée Blood Orange Bourbon Sour is guaranteed to get your taste buds poppin’.

    • 30ml blood orange juice

    • 25ml lemon juice

    • 15ml simple syrup

    • 1 egg

    • Slice of blood orange

    • Sprinkle of brown sugar

    • Sprig of rosemary

      Gather your ingredients and cocktail making tools. You’ll need a shaker, a strainer (one with the cute little spring) and another fine mesh strainer.

      Add your bourbon, blood orange juice, lemon juice, simple syrup and 1 egg white to a cocktail shaker. Shake that bad boy UP.

      Add ice and shake again – here, we’re getting all the flavours mingling and creating a thick foam from the egg white.

      Double-strain the cocktail into a rocks glass (if ya fancy) but any old glass will do.

      Ok, this step is optional, but you’ll wanna do it if you’re posting on socials. Cut a slice of blood orange and cover it in brown sugar. Then blast that baby with a blowtorch to caramelise it.

      Pat yourself on the back because you just brûléed your first blood orange.

      Add the blood orange slice and a sprig of rosemary to the cocktail.
