I'm saying this because this is a sensational single malt and I don't want stocks to run out. So please avoid this delicious drop and buy something else. Jokes aside, This is a heavenly whisky, complex, but straight forward, hints of smoke and punching way above it's weight.Stunning!!!

A hint of an airy bamboo grove on the nose, a hint of peat at the end - a very gentle and refreshing dram. I actually prefer the Hakushu single malt vs. other Suntory’s 12 year old single malts. A shame that it will be discontinued due to a lack of supply, and I foresee a ridiculous premium for bottles in the secondary market. What used to be a drink that cost less than $100 will get even more expensive.

This was my first Japanese Single Malt added to my collection, which mainly consists of Single Malt Scotch and it certainly holds it own. A subtle hint of smoke at first but it has an great lingering sweet after taste and very smooth. I was a bit hesitant at first because it seems over priced for a 12 year old but I'm glad I took the plunge because it's worth every dollar.

Sweet, with a hint of smoke. Smooth, goes down effortlessly. Managed to pick up three bottles when it was still very affordable. However, for long term enjoyment (or short term if consumed quickly), still very much worth the price!

This is my favourite whisky of all time, and I am sad and unsurprised in equal measure to see the price climb and supply diminish. It's phenomenal in balance and depth: crisp yet smoky, sweet yet clean, both light and smokey. You deserve it, even @ 160 per bottle I can't resist it... and it's almost impossible to find in stock nowdays, so I discourage hesitation.

I'm new to Whisky and have only tried around 20 different kinds. However, since first tasting The Hakushu it instantly became my favourite. To my taste it is very unique. Sweet. Strong. Refreshing. I often pour a nip and simply place it in a glass next to me while I work. The wafts of pine and apple are an experience unto themselves. Neat is my preference, but the tiniest drop of water will bring out a very different experience, with different scents and tastes. I find ice is not suited to this Whisky. If you are growing a collection, at the very least add this to the pile so you have something to contrast against the more common whiskies.

I've tried a couple of the Japanese/Suntory whiskies that Dan has on offer, but this one has to be my favourite so far. The taste of this one is sensational, mellow enough to enjoy neat, but quite interesting. I get a hint of peat up-front (but not as strong/lingering/smokey as you would get in say an Islay malt) with a fresh, semi-sweet finish. If it were a lot cheaper, I'd be all over this as a regular drop.
