The first sip will stick in your memory. For me it was exactly what you would expect a pleated speyside to taste like. Light, fruity, a little rich and with peat seeded through the middle.
It is pleasant to drink, but a style I’ve not tried before. Not as full and smooth as the Irish I’ve been drinking, but the gentle peat is just enough to coat your tongue for a while.
A good buy at $65, not sure I’d go there at $80.
Good balance of taste, peat and smokiness. Next time this goes on members special I would definitely grab one. Only downside is the price. Only a few top up and you can get a Talisker. Overall this is a drink that will always be on my radar.
Only become aware of this because it was a member special and the reviews prompted me to buy a bottle - will be buying another before the price increases $15. Shouldn't really recommend this to a friend because there will be none left.
Came across this special recently and purchased a bottle after enjoying a tasting earlier this year.
The complexity is unique with the touch of peatiness that leave the hint of smoke after each mouthful.
The initial notes are light and sweet that beg to be enjoyed neat in a chilled glass.
At $65 this is an excellent dram for a daily whiskey.
My first taste of peat was with Laphroaig and I didn’t like it at all. It tasted like they had added a spade full of clay and a pair of old footy boots to the barrel. From then on I have only been drinking Speyside single malts.
I noticed the unusual name when I was looking to buy a new whisky and read the Allt-A-Bhainne Product Details. It sounded good, so I thought I might give peat another try. I’m so glad I did. It has a gentle amount of peat which is complimented by the sweet Speyside malt. It's very smooth with no burn and you can’t wait for your next sip.
