Smooth and luscious - but we try and keep this one a secret!!

Let me preface this by saying we pay too much tax on alcohol in this country and so all locally distilled spirt is expensive. That said, when the age is not displayed on the bottle and the hue is as "rich" as this, then there is obviously caramel added to create the illusion of maturity. For me this is represented in the flavour, it lacks the subtle nuances of a well aged whiskey of equal price. The flavour is all new charred oak with little rounding from the "finishing" pinot noir cask and if you drink it without ice, the heat from the alcohol is overpowering. There are many better choices at this price point, but still drinkable (with ice).
