I've tried several Glenmorangies, and visited the distillery, and have been a little underwhelmed in the past. But I wanted something to share with some friends who aren't necessarily up for a crazy-peated Islay, and thought this would be a quality but accessible Highland. And I was incredibly pleasantly surprised. This is a beautiful whisky - full, rich, repleat with vanilla, toffee, sticky date, spices and just a touch of earthiness. It's quickly become one of my favourites, and has encouraged me to try a few more of the offerings that Glenmorangie has available.

The nose is strongly port redolent with the whisky in the background. The port finish is still strong in the taste but the fruity honey notes of the whisky are more forward in the taste. Much better than the Glen Moray Port finish which you would hope for in a drop that is nearly double the price
