We’ll start off easy with a recipe from an old Hufflepuff professor.

      Get on your broom and pick up the ingredients.

      Get a glass and put it in the fridge with ice. Once chilled, tip the ice out and you’re ready to go.

      Fill with cream soda and get your wand to give it a mix. 
    • 4
      Top with whipped cream, then get ready to take a portkey to Hogsmeade and enjoy. (Optional.)

Ok, you’re feelin’ a little spicy… a bit ambitious. But, you’re also a little lazy to go the full hog. Have a go at this stolen Slytherin recipe for something spesh, but still super easy to make.

      Go steal a glass from Hufflepuff’s fridge, add ice and pop it in your fridge next to the Fluxweed.

      Once you’ve - ahem - sorted your chilled glass, get the rum, schnapps and butter extract together.

      Mix the alcohol and then fill 3/4 of the way with cream soda.

      Then add a scoop of ice cream to your Butter Beer.

      Watch the magic happen as it starts to fizz up nicely. Who doesn’t love a bit of theatre?

Now we’re ready for the real version of Butter Beer… well, as real as a fictional Harry Potter drink can be. Dust off the tomes, and get your Nimbus 3000.
    • 330mL dark ale (or stout)
    • 35g muscovado sugar
    • 2 egg yolks
    • 45g unsalted butter, at room temp
    • Pinch of nutmeg
    • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
    • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
    • 1/8 tsp ground cloves
    • 1/8 tsp butterscotch extract

      Get yourself a saucepan and incendio the stove on a medium heat. Pour in the beer.

      Add your spices, sugar and stir that beery goodness. Don’t let it boil pls, a simmer is ok.

      Whisk your egg yolks until they’re nice and fine with no lumps.

      Lower the heat and slowly fold your eggs so it doesn’t clump and curdle.

      Once mixed, add your butter, butterscotch extract and stir. Bonus points if you can do it with magic.

      Move the mixture to a mixing bowl and whisk to get that foam. This won’t affect the flavour, but it’ll look pretty cool.

      Use a spoon to separate the foam and pour the liquid into a glass.

      Then layer on the foam to get that Butter Beer effect.

      And there you have it, Butter Beer fit for Ravenclaw royalty.

Now you might be thinking “BWS homies, where’s the uhhh… Gryffindor version?”  

Well, we know you lot are a bit goody-goody-two shoes (and that’s ok). You can easily make a non-alch version of the first two potions by swapping out the spirits: try this for voddy and this for rum.
