Wonderful Sem, this. Full bodied and built to age. It's not as gold and toasty as you might expect for 9/10 year old wine, but that's just a sign of the quality. That said, it's not green by any means. Let's go through it. Light gold in the glass, in any light. The smell is restrained at first (maybe a bit to cold) but it opens up with lemon and then some floral notes like an old Eden Valley Riesling, almost. The body is full. Despite the complexion and how easy it is to drink, this is no lightweight. There's lemon and honey and, well, just good wine. I have been a fan of the Vat 1 for years (of course), but this is half the price and almost in every way as good. If you want an aged Sem that you can further cellar without taking out a mortgage, this is it.

I expected more matured, rounded flavour as it is 2006 vintage. But it looks very young and has fresh, zesty flavour still different from 'real young' semillon though. I'd like to drink this wine within couple more years.

Semillon

The Masters wines are named after a person whom, or event that, has played an intrinsic role in the Peter Lehmann story. Crafted from the classic Barossa varietals, the wines are released with 5 years of bottle age and will continue to age gracefully for many years.

Margaret Lehmann is the great woman beside the great man: wife, business partner, and champion of Peter Lehmann Wines and the Barossa Valley. Peter Lehmann winemakers rewrote the rulebooks of Barossa Semillon in the early 90s, eschewing oak and opting for an early-picked style that lent itself to ageing. The result is Margaret Semillon. Released after five years cellaring, it has youthful lemongrass aromas and citrus acidity that belie its age; and complexity you would expect from an aged white with a bountiful trophy cabinet.

Awards Won
Gold - International Wine and Spirits Competition 2017 London (2011 vintage), Gold - International Wine Challenge, Gold - Royal Adelaide Wine Show.
