The 2017 vintage, on special from Fermoy at $25, and opened for hours before drinking, is good and large but seems surprisingly lacking in smoothness and refinement, so in 2022 I can't quite recommend it, even at that price, though it is a very substantial red. Someone once told me he didn't like smoothness and refinement; he preferred plenty of bite and bark. He'd love this. The substance seems to be there but not the opulence, especially given Fermoy's regular online RRP of $50.00 - and five years seems long enough to wait for all that and more to show up. It's the only Fermoy I haven't been pleased with, out of several reds and whites I've bought of theirs by the case. The 'expert review' above says none of this, but does note a life expectancy to 2034 (when and if I'll be 83!) so I think I'll put away the rest of the dozen I bought for a year at least, and then maybe more. Suspiciously but predictably, the more of it I drink as I try to type this, the more I like it. We'll see.
