Three Ingredient Beer-Bread

Ahh, when did bread get to $6 a loaf? Nope. Not having it.

While BWS can’t open a low-cost bakery (Bread, Wine & Spirits does have a nice ring to it tho), we can make this recipe with a spare frothy found in the fridge. And out of all the hair-brained ideas we’ve come up with, this one’s pretty decent. So, get ready to embrace the trad-wife life besties.

    • 350ml beer (preferably lager)
    • 340g self-raising flour
    • 100g plain white sugar
    • Additional: Butter/oil to grease the pan
    • 1
Preheat your oven to 190ºC on fan-forced.
    • 2
Grease your baking dish (something that’s roughly 23x13cm) and set aside.
    • 3
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together your flour and sugar.
    • 4
Once that’s done, pour in your beer.
    • 5
Keep mixing, but this time you’re gonna have to use some elbow grease. The mixture will get heavy and sticky, and if it gets too stuck to your spoon, wet it with some cold water.
    • 6
Pour your mixture into the greased pan and shape into a loaf, then bake for 40 mins.
    • 7
Once that’s done, let it sit for 5 mins before getting stuck in.
