It's good. But it is not "Dry" in any way for sure. There is a mistake in description.

I have to admit one of my favourite things about this tawny is its name, which took me back to one of my favourite “Pickwick Papers” moments from the book Little Women. By itself this tawny is smooth and rich with just the right amount of heat to “warm the cockles of your heart”.

The first thing you notice is the timber box it comes in.... The second thing is the naming of this port.... The drinking of this port is intense at first and then the warm sensation of plum and raisin kicks in with a mild alcohol finish A good balance of sweet with tart .

Better of with a galway pipe or a grandfather tawny. Not a lot of difference on the nose or palate. Spend another few $ and get 2 Galway Pipes

Top wine, showing excellent nutty 'rancio' character and great length. Not too sweet or cloying and great with raw cashews. Lovely balance and mouthfeel, but lingering savory persistence is its strength. Actually very good value for money at just less than $50 per bottle. Compares very favorably to some tawny ports that are two to three times as much. Deserved its gold medal at the 2019 National Show. Although gift boxing can be a waste of money, at least the perspex covered wooden box make good houses for red-backs.

The first thing i noticed about Mr Pickwicks is the artwork on the Label. it's absolutely fantastic! The impression on the palate for me, is it's definitely a tawny that steers more towards the special occasion/gift category. It's got plenty going for it with a lovely combination of intense fruitiness and plenty of spice to satisfy anyone who enjoys a heavy fortified and on the nose i picked up the slightest hints of polished leather. It is a bit pricey overall but one look at that label is all it will take to get you interested in trying it and it would make a nice gift for someone who really appreciates their port.
