No body and a bitter finish

I know a Pinot Noir is supposedly a light red but this virtually flavourless liquid is overpriced by about $10-15 and had a bitter finish that I did not like. I drank a decanted 2021 with friends that had travelled through the vinyards of Otago. They said it is typical of the region, watery and bland. No complexity. Perhaps if you are overly sensitive to even medium bodiied wines, this would suit you. We followed this with a 2019 Parker Coonawarra "Terra Rossa" Merlot which at $10 less (on special) was a far superior wine. Did I get the wrong vintage or a dud? Avoid the 2021 vintage.
