I found this Absinthe quite enjoyable, much better than that green fairy nonsense. Louches well even with lemonade and worked beautifully in cocktails. Quite strong so don't add too much if your going to mix it with other alcohols.

A multitude of French absinthes (with an 'e' as is the nomenclature in the French language) exist from many distillers as a rudimentary search would reveal. Pernod-Ricard does not own rights to the term, nor does anyone else. The basic element of any absinthe is the presence of wormwood extract; Mr Jekyll does not contain wormwood in common with most (all?) Czech Republic cold mixed product in this category, and it is not a distilled spirit. It is akin to 'malt-free scotch whisky' without distillation in concept. Swiss-style absinthes, long regarded as the most refined, have never louched. They are clear resulting from multiple distillation, and will remain clear on contact with water. A number of high quality Austrian absinthes similarly do not louch due to their purity. Mr Jekyll is a fun concoction for partying, but to suggest it is an absinthe is simply incorrect. It needs to be evaluated in comparison to infused vodkas. On that basis it's value for money, and an audience that won't appreciate paying for genuine absinthe will buy it and be happy.

For clarification, if absinth doesn't louche, it ain't absinth. Also, a French company bought the rights to the name "absinthe" not the drink. When you're drinking absinthe you've paid for a name and not necessarily a real absinth. Water has to be added for emulsification or the "louche", which releases the aroma and flavour of the absinth. Sugar can be added to cut the bitterness of the wormwood. I haven't tried many absinths, but Mr Jekyll Absinth is definitely one of the best.

Sadly this stuff isn't actually absinthe (the lack of the 'e' is noted - there's a hint there - and is simply the best of a range of what might be considered green coloured vodkas. The best - read Swiss style - absinthes don't louch at all. This product will appeal to a younger set seeking entertainment for their dollar, but with no history of making absinthes prior to the end of the communist era, Mr Jekyll like all Czech 'absinths' lacks a heritage and just isn't the real deal. Doubs is a superior product available at Dan's, but it's time for a genuine absinthe to make it onto the shelves.

This is absolutely awesome. The flavour is just the right balance of aniseed and yet with a hint a fruity citrus. The effects of the wormwood are knock-out. I had 3 shots and I must tell you that why anyone would mix a spirit is beyond me, but after only 3 shots in quick succession I was in another world totally. I will be buying this product by the case, because as soon as the stupid government realize just how awesome this drink is they will ban it like every other pleasure in life. Don't take this review wrong the drink has a beautiful bouquet with a slight oiliness and just enough burn to let let you know what your paying for. I will try some others but so far for taste alone this wins hands down. 10/10

For the price, my expectations were low, but this is simply a wonderful drink. The louche was adequate, and the taste rivals much more expensive bottles. I've finally found an Absinth that brings forth the respect that this fabled drink deserves, and I would highly recommend it for new comers and the experienced alike.
