Ravensworth Shiraz Viognier 2009 - Tasted Oct 2012 The Canberra region has nothing to prove where cool climate shiraz is concerned, with the fabulous Clonakilla setting the bench mark. This is a lovely wine showing all the classic trademarks of shiraz from this region. There is plenty of dark fruits with layers of pepper, spice and licorice. The addition of viognier adds a hint of lifted sweetness to the fruit flavours while smoothing out the texture. Fine grain tannins and balanced acid complete the package.
