Well balanced dark chocolate Shiraz, which if left to breath delivers a great evening with friends!

For a 2015 vintage I was very surprised at the quality of this wine. Can’t wait to try in a few years. Great wine to cellar.

Excellent well rounded shiraz which will only improve with age!! Earthy tannins and excellent chocolate flavours when drinking. Great nose. Recommend you open and decanter allowing to breath for an hour or two!! You will notice the difference.

On the nose: Rhubarb with a hint of ripe plum. It's very tight. Looks wise: Thick, viscous, almost soupy - portends a heavy wine. Colour is dark crimson with dark pink outer edge. The legs are long. Can't wait to taste it. Tasting: Decanted: Very high acidity to the point of sourness but settles very quickly into dark chocolate with a hint of truffles to finish in the medium length. The tannin is very light and hides in the back until you call it to come out by aerating it in your mouth. Structure is neat and simple. This wine needs to be decanted at least half a day prior to drinking to bring out its best. Strong and bold, age will impart more sophistication. Food matching: Red meat is the go here. I can see it also matched with sauerkraut and chicken or pork schnitzels, even cream based Italian pasta would go well. A burger and chips meal wouldn't go astray either if that's your fancy. Verdict: This is a bold wine. Not for the faint hearted nor beginner but if you're game, then you will love this wine. At $35.99 it is reasonably priced although it wouldn't be out of place if it was $49.99. This is a beautiful wine I can drink more of.

This is a great shiraz. While maybe a bit pricey, considering the quality of the cheaper "basket pressed" shiraz, this is still a winner. Kay Brothers is a great winery, all the products are tops!
