I first tried this 2017 in September 2019 at a blind tasting with some wine industry friends. Clearly good quality fruit and well made. Butter and slight melon notes in the nose. The palate showed very good Chardonnay fruit but a bit unyielding. It seems this wine still needs time to develop further and hopefully integrate more. Sorry to be a dissenting voice but at this price point it was not particularly enjoyable to drink. I look forward to trying it in another year or two to compare.

The first time was I tried this wine was at the Cellar door, who are also owners of Heathcote Estate. It is a magnificent winery, with breathtaking views, and equally impressive wines. I initially tried the Red Claw Chardonnay, 2010 vintage which was simply delightful, but when you try the Yabby Lake, it takes you above and beyond any expectations, as it delivers a subtleness, complexity and length to die for. Truly a supreme wine. Highly recommended.
