I tried the 2019 version today and it's a tad bitter for my liking...will not be buying again...

A nice red for a nice price. It's on my favorites list for budget wines...

Surprised by its excellent quality, coming from such an affordable price point. Easily as good as the posh cab savs on the expensive shelf..

A most enjoyable red. Smooth and rich in flavor with the strength and formality of a higher end Cabernet Sauvignon. Extremely well priced and very EASY to enjoy.

Having recently tasted and enjoyed the Houghton 2010 (Red Stripe) Cabernet Shiraz Merlot it was about time to try my first tasting of Houghton Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 from Western Australia where this particular wine has had some favourable successes in recent vintages. This Cabernet Sauvignon is certainly again an easy drinking wine with the usual balance of flavours showing blackcurrant and ripe plummy tones with that cigar box nose often shown with this particular variety of wine, the softened tannins and only so slight notice of oak perhaps if any. I enjoyed the Houghton Stripe Cabernet Shiraz Merlot 2010 much more than this Cabernet Sauvignon but then that is a personal choice as I do favour the trend towards the mix of blends currently available, even so I enjoyed the experience of another Houghton Stripe Series Wine and there are a few more to enjoy.
