I have been drinking Vat 1 since the 80's. Unfortunately I only have one left, a 2005 vintage. Time for a trip to Tyrrells.

This is it, proven and tested, unique and Australia’s white wine gift to the world. Sadly opened 3 bottles of 2002 for my boy’s birthday and all were duds, due to bad corks. Bloody corks, how many good bottles of wine have been destroyed by bad corks. In Vat 1’ s defence, I open 1999 December last year and it was amazing, very youthful and still in transition, hard to believe it was 14 year old. No doubt not removing CO2 at bottling helps aid the aging process. Bruce Tyrrell you are the man

Had a bottle recently. Wish I didn't - far too young. Nevertheless it shows all the hallmarks of a brilliant cellar dweller for the next decade. At the moment the Lovedale is a better drink now or even the Tyrrells Stevens so there is no shortage of Hunter whites to plunder. BTW, you don't have to come from Sydney to enjoy the remarkable Hunter Semillon - just don't go near sweaty saddle red!

This is what white wine is all about. Perfectly balanced in allways with crisp citrus flavour. This is a joy to drink and it is such a shame we guzzle down imported over extracted NZ sav blanc when we make perfect wines here by one of the great vineyards. It is not cheap but you have to buy a bottle to see what a great white is like.

what a fantastic wine!!! lively and fresh with fabulous lemon, lime with a hint of toastiness coming through. this is truely a briiliant wine!!
