More of a taste for the peated variety, made the decision to branch out to the Sherry side. Beautiful fruity nose, sweet full flavour with a lot of fruit and spice. Good value for cask strength and a classic. Worth it to have some variety in the cabinet.

Had kept looking at this bottle for quite some time .After reading up about its history I decided to buy it and give it a crack.Well can I tell you it is worth every dollar.Depending were you buy it .It could be expensive But because I am a very loyal Dan Murphy’s member and spend $$$ per year they beat one of their opposition on price .As for the taste add a little water it will open the aroma and bring this Dram to another place called Whisky Heaven. When buying Scotch cask strength this is by far the best value you can get with 60% ABV

At last, a whisky that achieves the ideals of the non age statement philosophy. With Glenfarclas 105, there is youthful vibrance without the rough edges and bitter aftertaste you normally get with NAS whiskies. At cask strength (60% ABV), you need to add water to unlock the aromas and flavours. I usually dilute it down to about 50% ABV and then adjust according to taste. On nosing, you are clobbered over the head with an oak log. There's a noisy symphony of vanilla, honey, cardamon and raisins. On the tongue, it's no less intense, with the heady sweetness of dried fruit marinating in brandy and a touch of bittersweet dark chocolate. The finish is dry and spicy with cinnamon, mace and cloves. The body is rich and at times you almost feel like you're chewing on the whisky. Glenfarclas 105 has changed my view on NAS whiskies. Call me crazy, but I actually prefer this Glenfarclas to the 15 year old, which seems a little stuffy and boring in comparison. By using properly aged spirit (at least 8 years old according to rumours) and good quality casks, Glenfarclas has knocked it out of the park with the 105.

This is a delicious whisky but it does taste a little young and overpowering. Exceptional flavour and from what is one of my absolute favourite distilleries. It is certainly worth trying.

A lovely scotch. At cask strength you get lots of sherry, spiciness, and fruity aromas. Smooth on the palate, can be watered down a little to open up and fully appreciate the complexity. The dry finish is to my liking as well, although some might like it sweeter than this.

I love this scotch! I have tried probably around 30-40 different single malts so far and the Glenfarclas 105 is at the top of my favourites list. I think that it actually has quite a nice sweet taste to it. It can be a bit harsh neat, especially if you haven't had cask strength for a while, so adding a dab of water or an ice block and letting it sit for 10 mins smooths it out and brings out the richness of flavour. It is similar to the Aberlour Abundah and the Glenlivet Nadurra, both of which I also love but I think the sweet lingering after taste and complexity of the Glenfarclas 105 edges out the other 2 and makes this one my top cask strength so far.
