Quite classy, and in keeping with how good and consistent Pol have been over the last 5 or so years

As a lover of the Pol Roger NV, it thought i would treat myself to the vintage. Perhaps my expectations were too high but i didn't find a discernible improvement in quality of the NV. With no other 2006 vintage reviews i don't have anything to compare to, but i found it to be lacking some body on the mid-palate, and didn't quite have the zip of acid (though to be fair, it is 11 years old and this is likely normal). Overall, i would stick with the NV for the price and my tastes tending towards a more upfront style.

Best Champagne I have tried to date. It is so refine that you actually enjoy every sip of it. Very reach on a pallet with complex aromas, nice bodied wine! It feels creamy with a cheesy aromas. Produces fines bubbles I have seen so far.

I bought a few of these from Dans a while back and havent had the occasion to pop one yet, I think they will be best drinking in a few years, however I was dining out with friends at the Treasury in Adelaide and they had the 2002 Vintage on the wine list. I couldn't say no to the chance. Let me say I am biased, I love Pol White Foil and its my go-to NV. I think the Vintage was quite a treat. The Mousse is what you would expect from Pol, almost impossibly fine it simply turns into a cloud in the mouth. Full bodied, of course, plenty of fruit and depth. Not to be taken lightly. It was perfect with the entree of freshly shucked oysters, the salt bringing the mousse to life and highlighting the brioche and long finish. Main was the fillet of beef with pepper and cognac jus gras and the Vintage has the body and the substance to drink with red meat and bring out the flavors of both the wine and the meat. I still will cellar mine until 2015 or so, unless the right occasion comes up beforehand!
