2021 acidic , not much flavor. Too expensive for the quality

...go for it. 2019 vintage, tasted 12/22. Part of a very recently received Dan's half dozen (considering checking Dan's page today for this wine says "Current Vintage: 2020", draw your own conclusion). The nose is hard-to-discern except for really pleasant vanilla wood and the palate is almost as obtuse except for a nice peachiness behind the strong vanillin flavour and woody astringency. Look, three and a half years old for an Aussie chardonnay not showing any signs of decline ain't bad. And it's a crisp, clean, balanced, well-made wine with no faults other than (imho) too much seriously good oak. Decide for yourselves. It's an expensive wine that is drinking fine at a reasonably advanced age and may improve as the wood integrates, or the fruit may fall away first: but who knows?. There are many who would give this 5 stars and so I'd be happy to recommend this wine to them, but my opinion is, right now, most likely there is some possibly very tidy fruit here, but unfortunately buried.
