I have had the No. 12 a few times and asked the wife to pick me up a bottle, she came home with the No. 8 by mistake. I didn't want to make her feel bad so I didn't say anything, and boy was I impressed. Such a nice, nice tasting whiskey. Easy, smooth drinker, neat or with ice. Not ashamed to say, I went down and bought 3 bottles after that one at the wicked online special. This is officially the cheapest bottle I have that I would say is a great sipper neat. I have a lot of good bourbons ($80+), and I hold this one up there with them on taste. If you are looking for a great entry level whiskey, please try this one!

After writing a harsh review, for Dickel No.12, I was pleasantly surprised by Old No.8. Pouring 30ml with Ice, and a splash of Water, revealed a decent Whisky. The balance is right in this one, without all that 'burnt timber' and 'smoke' of their No.12. Yes, I have served it to friends, who said, they liked it. Yes, I have bought another bottle. Consider it not too sweet, and the right amount of 'heat.' No, I did not try it with Cola.

I Find this bourbon whisky to be very definite & robust in its initial sip... It is bold, woody, hints of spices, but quite mild. One notable flavour quality is the’not too sweet’ As some un-aged bourbons tend to be... It’s not harsh, but medium-smooth. A good ‘bite’ & after taste is clean & ‘moorish’ . Even goes well mixed with Cola, & I’d give it a run in Dry Ginger as well... Overall a Good drop & quite good value for money in its place against competitive brands, ages & proof percentages. I’m always happy to buy #8 when on a Dan Murphy’s Sale Week... & never disappointed with the varying batch flavour notes... & yes, you can tell from batch to batch... overall for me an 8.5 / 10 , even a close 9 ... Whilst it is worth spending the extra dollars to get the dickel no. 12, dickel no. 8 is a phenomenal whisky with its lower proof therefore allowing you to fully taste the subtle flavours of apple, vanilla and bread-like pastry notes. This reminds me of an apple pie flavoured whisky and the nose of the whisky has the bready woody notes that make it a delight to drink. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for an upgraded version of Jack Daniels .

When I want to drink Bourbon I buy Wild Turkey..when I want a sour mash (which is not a bourbon) I always buy 'Dickel' My son in law says Jack Daniels is the best,but all the young guys say that because it's 'cool' to say you drink 'Jacks' I like 'George'

Not as good as No#12 better off spending a few dollars more for the better batch
