Well structured. complex wine with good mouth feel and appears to have good oak maturation . the 2014 is drinking well now. I found this wine to be rich and smooth.

Having had many bottles of the “basic” Giesen Sav Blanc previously, I thought I’d spoil my wife and spend a bit more on this more upmarket version, Giesen The August 1888 Sav Blanc. However, the only thing that was spoilt was the wine. There was a real sense of a vinegar taste and a strong straw colouring to the wine. Perhaps Dan Murphy’s needs to occasionally refer to their more lowly reviews and question whether there is a need for them to investigate the problem. Normally $34.99/bottle, I paid $25, but having tasted the wine I wouldn’t pay even $5/bottle for this.
