One of the best years in the Hunter has made this the typical Hunter Valley Shiraz that we have come to know and love. Don't hesitate 8.5 / 10

Had a long day, was thinking all afternoon about have a nice glass of red and some cheese, spent half an hour at dans looking through the wines hoping to get the perfect one. This one had a deal sticker on it and some comments thought I could give it a go. Lucky I got a second bottle from the Barossa. It did slightly improve once it was decanted, but we still couldn't drink it... and that's saying something because I am not that fussy..... this bottle should be in the $6-$8 range

This is what a Hunter Shiraz should be like. Big, full flavored and and lots of character. It keeps faith with the great reds of the last 50 years from Pokolbin. When I want a classic Hunter Red, this is the wine I buy

Totally appreciate how food friend this wine is. Consumed over lunch it complemented each of served continental dishes rather than over powering them as many bold full bodied reds often can. Hunter valley winemakers more than most live & breathe medium bodied dry reds & acclaimed winemaker Jim Chatto exemplary work on the Mount Pleasant portfolio has achieved much success. All wines including their entry level Philip have shown improvements. No tall timber or gimmicks here just an honest Hunter red combining cherries & blue berries framed by balanced tannin & acid structure making it a very versatile & food friendly wine. The wine’s analysis Alc/Vol: 13.5%, Acidity: 7.3g/L, pH: 3.4, is better than many expensive red & suggests it will be very long lived.
