Much like McLaren Vale, the Hunter provides a fantastic medium body Shiraz. Nose is light with hints of currants and aniseed. On the palate there's rich Cherry and dark berry complemented by barrel spice and oak.

One of the best years in the Hunter has made this the typical Hunter Valley Shiraz that we have come to know and love. Don't hesitate 8.5 / 10

Had a long day, was thinking all afternoon about have a nice glass of red and some cheese, spent half an hour at dans looking through the wines hoping to get the perfect one. This one had a deal sticker on it and some comments thought I could give it a go. Lucky I got a second bottle from the Barossa. It did slightly improve once it was decanted, but we still couldn't drink it... and that's saying something because I am not that fussy..... this bottle should be in the $6-$8 range

This is what a Hunter Shiraz should be like. Big, full flavored and and lots of character. It keeps faith with the great reds of the last 50 years from Pokolbin. When I want a classic Hunter Red, this is the wine I buy
