smells like a can of fruit salad with just a hint of mouldy sock. any hint of malt which may be present is quickly driven off by assertive astringent hop bitterness which lingers too long on the tongue while gradually disintegrating into a harsh sour metallic bitterness. I have to try really hard to find any maltiness at all in this and the malt i detect is so slight that i cant be sure its not just wishful thinking. Not my idea of pale ale. I really cant imagine what their other "hoppy" beers must be like. This reminds me of a fruit tingle without the sugary bit.

Clean crisp and delight to drink. Hope new owners don’t change the beer or style.

After going to the Balter Brewery a few times... The Wife was Happy to see the Balter Strong Pale Ale Cans in Uncle Dans... It's a good drop... Really worth the try

Love this beer, a hoppy malty ale that is just too easy to drink this time of year. Pity its priced as a treat and not a staple.

A strong hoppiness, very similar to a Mosaic style beer and the cheaper option Light in sweet with a well balanced body that isn't going to overwhelm you if every sip Strong hoppy finish that will linger, very hard hitting at the start, but mellows out without the pungent after taste. The bitterness will only come from the finish, but if you want something bitter, Balter's XPA will be the next step

Balter beers are simply excellent! The Strong Pale Ale is the perfect "gateway" beer for fans of XPA who want to try something with a little more punch, but are not quite ready to dive into the IPA. Love it!
