The Macallan Sherry Oak 12 Years Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is one of the smoothest and most enjoyable whiskies I’ve had. From the moment you open the bottle, you get beautiful rich aromas of dried fruit, vanilla, oak and warm spices. The sherry cask influence really shines through without being overpowering. On the palate it’s incredibly smooth with flavours of raisin, caramel, orange peel, cinnamon and dark chocolate, followed by a long warm finish with just the right touch of oak and spice. It feels luxurious and well balanced from start to finish. What stands out most is how easy it is to drink while still having plenty of depth and character. Whether enjoyed neat, with a few drops of water, or shared on a special occasion, it always feels premium and satisfying. A fantastic whisky for both newcomers to single malts and experienced Scotch drinkers alike. Expensive compared to some others, but the quality absolutely shows in every sip.

This was for a long time my absolute favourite Single Malt, the original 12 year old sherry oak is an absolute must for any collection, beautifully fruity and smooth, no smoke or peatiness at all. The price is very high these days due to the absolutely staggering growth of The Macallan range and brand through clever marketing and film placements. I was lucky enough to visit the new (2018) distillery last year and was completely blown away by the scale and growth of this scotch, incredible to see but also a little sad that what started as something small and special is now a massive global business and commercial enterprise.
