I first discovered the wines of the Stellenbosch in 1984 when I visited South Africa for the first time. I was working on a cruise ship as an entertainer. I was so impressed I bought 2 cases to take back home to NY. Sadly (maybe not) we drank all of the wine before the ship returned to NY. It was exquisite then and it is still. This is a wonderful smooth white with a rich taste and no acidic after-taste at all. I would (and have) whole-heartedly recommend this wine to anyone.

Pineapple and peach and heavy oak derived from chips. The label boasts that the vineyards were carved out of a rare plant community. I cannot find evidence of the claim in Dan Murphy's White Wine Discovery Guide that this wine was judged Best in the World at the Chardonnay du Monde competition.

A recent find Chardonnay, enjoyable with or without food and great value for money. Would definately recommend.

As per dan murphy: Finely poised minerals hide a deliciously buttered toasty complexity throughout, a refined balance of traditional and contemorary style Chardonnay But their tasting was of 2009 I think. I have drunk a couple of vintages over the last year and not so much minerals. Which for me is a good thing. I guess both there other 2 wines will be as good.

My first taste of a South African wine, and it did not disappoint. I enjoyed this wine with some home cooked beer battered Flathead and chips with a lime and yogurt mayonnaise which was a like a refreshing tar tare sauce; superb! When it was opened, it had a lovely fresh and instant lime fragrance. Good acid and subtle oak, it almost tasted like an unoaked Chardy. Would like to try this with a chicken bosciola. Easy drinking quaffer with enough acid to refresh the mouth for glass after glass. Slight buttery characteristics and its only a young wine. This would have gone better than the White Box Chardonnay I had with the Indian food and equally if not better with Thai food. This is a bargain wine! I give it 3/4 of a bottle but I am bordering on drinking the whole bottle within a 2 hour period.
