This is a work of art! Shambles' summer ale is great but for a dollar extra per can (when bought by the case), you get this stuff! Fine lacy head disappears quickly. Pine and a little grapefruit on the nose. In the mouth, everything seems to arrive at the same time. The ale foams up and you've light toffee malt, an enormous, complex, citrus hop bomb which rapidly turns dry, and a long bitter, dry, finish. One of the best US west-coast style pale ales I have had. It's a bit strong to be sessionable, more of an occasional treat or just one can to be taken over a meal. If you want something similar but sessionable and cheaper, try Shambles Summer Ale (which I've also reviewed). Pirate Life IIPA is of a similar standard, but significantly more expensive than this one. Not sure I would buy the Pirate Life one again, after tasting this!!

This is definitely my favourite Tasmanian beer, if not my favourite Australian beer. Not cheap, worth it...
