The Early Days
The Barossa Valley was settled by Germans (more specifically, Silesians from Prussia) in the 1840s, followed by Cornish miners and other Brits. Winemaking started fairly early, but it didn't become a major player until the 1970s, when Grant Burge moved in and set up Krondorf wines.
The King of Shiraz Arrives
Winemaker Chris Ringland, aka "The King of Shiraz," made his signature style of Barossa Shiraz famous throughout Australia and around the world while working at Rockford's in the late 80s. You can taste Ringland's unique style in his own range, but be warned: it's addictive!
What Makes a Barossa Shiraz?
