Method 1: The Arm Pump

We’re starting out easy with this technique. Get an elbow (yours or your mate’s) to act as a solid piece of wood to give that jammed shaker a tap. Make contact with the side of your elbow a few times to see if it’ll loosen.

If it doesn’t, try the next tip.

Method 2: The Board Breaker

Now you’re actually gonna use a solid piece of wood (or stone, if ya fancy) to open it.

Get the edge of your shaker and hit it on an angle against a bench – not too hard, especially if you’re renting. You can also try the balcony railing as well - might be a bit tougher.

Method 3: The OG

This one’s solid, and it’s got a bit of theatre too. Simply raise your knee as high as you can, then bring that shaker down like the Titanic. Ok, maybe not that dramatic, but you get the picture.

Tapping it on your thigh with some force should help loosen things, so you can pry it open.

Method 4: The Warm One

If you’re this far down the article, we’re gonna guess that brute force ain’t the answer.

In this case, you might need to raise the temp a little. If the ingredients in your shaker are cold, it might have caused the metal to contract – making it real tough to open. Run the shaker under warm water to get that metal expanding and then try again.

If any of these didn’t work, might be time to cut your losses and come get some premixes from BWS (shameless plug, soz).
