I was looking for an italian wine to use in an Italian ragu that I was making. The ragu was great and I was surprised how decent this wine was as i had a glass while cooking and later with the meal.

I found this rough and didn't enjoy it at all. In fact, most of the bottle went down the sink. But it's only $10, so I guess the quality was aligned to the price. That's the only reason it has 2, not one star - is it's priced accordingly. You can score cleanskins that taste better in this price bracket.

Very nice red wine, paired well with my (Italian families) - meal

The Ventiterre Montepulciano D'Abruuzo product is one of those that fits into the mass-produced, but decent brackets. The grape varietal is predominant in southern Italy. The brand itself is a sub thing to the giant Zonin brand. Perhaps Italy's biggest. I would never suggest that this is a "go-to" wine, but at the price point, it is something enjoyable and different. Anyone who enjoys red would be able to get some enjoyment from it, especially given the factor it is novel, if you tirelessly devour shiraz, etc. Give it a go, as others suggest with such a simple thing of pizza - maybe take a bottle with you to an Italian joint that has BYO. Enjoy something different that night. But it not something I would relish every week.

Not a bad Montepulciano but not an excellent one either. Quite drinkable but not my favourite. Had it at dinner with Sicilian chicken dish and was passable accompaniment. Everyone else liked it. At the price I suppose you can't complain.
