Outstanding wine, 'purple' colour and fruit (plums and mulberry) but the underneath favours of cinnamon, cardamon and 5 spice and a extra long lush finish make this wine. Drink now while you wait for the barossa's to gain age

very nice bottle of wine if it was an aussie wine would be twice the price some south american and south african wines are execlent value for money.

Such a smooth and fluid wine, just beautiful. Worth every penny.

Appearance: Clear, deep garnet with a hint of purple on the edge that has long oily legs running down the side of the glass. Nose: Very subtle raspberry, red fruit and cherry. Perhaps it was because I just took it out of the wine fridge - it needed time to warm up. Palate: Undecanted: There is some mint on the initial sip followed by raspberry, cherry, some plum, blackcurrant and some white pepper. Through the mid palate there is subtle oak that melds into a medium dark chocolate finish. The acidity is high but balanced by the fine tannin that made the texture seemed light. Suggested food match: The texture is quite light, probably due to the high acidity but this is kept in check by the silky tannin undertone so I am inclined to match this wine with salty dishes like grilled Continental sausages e.g. chorizo ala plancha, salty cheeses, stews, proteins like steaks, ribs with their strong dominant sauce, and even layered pasta with grilled wild mushrooms. Conclusion: This wine has medium balanced flavours, medium length and intensity. The high acidity and fine tannin indicates it has the capacity to be cellared for another 10 years but I would probably say that's the maximum. It is a good medium complex wine that is good drinking now.

The Purple Angel by Montes, now here's a serious red blend made from 92% Carmenere & 8% Petit Verdot from the Colchagua Valley in Chile & aged in French oak barrels for 18 months. Color, Has a lovely & vibrant purple color. Nose, a glorious & wonderful twist of spice, toastiness from the oak & rich ripe fruit. Palate, now this has some great depth, richness & a hint of chocolate! This gorgeous and full-bodied red offers a lot and develops in your mouth, it has a long finish, the aroma is simply superb and has the characteristics of an old world wine, this is a fantastic red, a truly Angelic wine if there's such a thing! Carmenere brought back from extinction & a grape which I refer to as the "Jurassic Park" of the reds...........
