This is a very drinkable Riesling. A typical Clare Valley wine that my wife and I both enjoy. It is also very good value.

If you're looking for a Riesling with an unusually rewarding flavour, or if your taste for Riesling has become somewhat jaded and sceptical from too many disappointments or false promises, try this beauty from Henschke ....... the broader and more tropical lime flavour is quite pronounced, and with no overarching hint of the more acidic lemon tartness. Yet it's still balanced despite being well out there with flavour .... Peggy's Hill is probably not for those palates seeking a gossamer silkyness ...... and it is this character which will remain memorable to you. I might suggest that the food pairing is important to get right - my bottle was served icily cold (which, for a change, I loved!# with large green prawn tails lightly fried, following a marinade of fresh garlic, decent! olive oil #try to get some Portuguese Olive Oil), a touch of tabasco, and coriander. Aaaaah ........ memorable! The bottle was so cold that the wine remained icy and refreshing until the last drop, and I would say that this actually helped everyone's appreciation of this particular wine-food blend. Not expensive and yet not cheap, but please don't be afraid to spend a bit more on your whites in the ongoing pursuit of excellence. I also add that the one year of bottle age was probably significant to the overall effect.

I find this a dependable, enjoyable white to either finish the day or the week. Easy drinking wine that goes with anything from home made pizza to gourmet sausages. Full of flavour yet leaves the palate wanting more. My Saturday night pick.
