I found this wine extremely astringent to the point of being unpleasant. The tannins are overpowering and leave a very dry, puckering sensation in the mouth. If you prefer smoother or more balanced wines, I would strongly recommend choosing another bottle.

I think the bad reviews must have been from people who got an off batch. I have bought this Chianti on and off over the last three years and never had a bad bottle. Thank goodness. I have had much worse Australian wine that cost three times the price.
