I had this with a cut of herb crusted lamb during the Christmas break. What was striking was the hints of sweeter flavours like fairy floss that worked their way into this medium bodied red. Perhaps not the most complex of the penfolds variety but it is still almost too easy to drink. For a pairing it would absolutely go well with lamb, deer or game. For a steal of 35 dollars I don't think you could complain!

With a fruity aroma, the 2013 vintage is very robust, offering peppery flavours along with cherry, raspberry and plum accents. Tannins coat the tongue perfectly to create a very smooth, enjoyable experience. Best enjoyed alongside a hearty roast dinner or savoured on its own for its fruity richness.

I was given a bottle as a gift and it was really nice. We really enjoyed it.
