I'm not a committed rum drinker. But compared to say a Ron Zacapa or Diplomatico I found this Bundy harsh tasting, both straight and on the rocks. It was languishing in the drinks cabinet so I suggested to my lovely wife that she use it to season her highly regarded Xmas fruit cakes. What a match made in heaven. The sugars from the fruit mellows the harsh palate of the Bundy. Whilst the Bundy brings a new dimension to the cake, providing a peat like earthy balance to the fruit sugar. Ying and Yang what more can I say

Not as smooth as Solera but a very good rum. No wonder it's a world beater. I'm a Queenslander and my Dad introduced me to Bundaberg Rum 55 years ago. Cheers!

Robust rich and smooth like Rum should be. An outstanding after dinner retreat. Brilliant!

A friend bought this for me - to 'change my mind' about Bundaberg rum - as I continue to maintain it is virtually undrinkable by anyone who had tried rum from anywhere else in the world and doesn't accept a strong formaldehyde taste as an essential component in rum. His ambition was for me to share his enthusiasm borne out of growing up in Townsville and knowing no better. Unfortunately it is both thin, overly simple and continues to taste like embalming fluid (or what I imagine embalming fluid tastes like). The overpowering formaldehyde taste (no I haven't drunk formaldehyde but i have smelt it) ruins any chance that I could enjoy it. It now languishes in the cupboard - I can not give this stuff away. Seriously any Caribbean rum is better than this - by a country mile. It is technically incorrect (this comment I lifted from a review of bundaberg rum in an in-flight magazine). Pour it down the sink...

If you are looking for a plush smooth sweet silky rum that "feels nice" in your mouth then buy the Dicatador or similar. This is not that rum. If you have been around a bit and tried a bunch of rums from around the world and have experience a wide range of styles then you will probably appreciate this rum. Clear the thought of "bundy rum" from your mind. This is an excellent (on a world scale) rum that has great layers of flavour and complexity. Worth every cent.
