This is a beautiful smooth red that goes with nearly everything. I have only tasted (and drank a bottle of) one nicer..

Some Barossa Grenaches can trade on the name...old vines, yadayada, and simply undersell this treasure of a grape from old plantings that we all remember were under threat of extinction. This is a very well made, plump, spicy, floral, red-fruited wine that is over delivering somewhat on the price-quality ratio. Yalumba's stable has the best access, and Cirillo has access to ancient vines that reveal soft velvety floral gems, but this is somewhere between the two..certainly no heat and jamminess, no washed out peppery Grenache that a few Barossans push out, but this is medium bodied, raspberry, cherry, very well balanced and nuanced wine that is an absolute joy to drink. Really good fruit, again a different beast to Cirillo and Yalumba, but a worthy contender, and at $20, happy days. One of the great Australian viticultural legacies left by our Lutheran forefathers.
