At the $30 price point this luscious red punches above its weight and is immensely enjoyable. Robust and smooth it’s great drinking right now.

For its price tag it just didn’t reach the mark. I was expecting a much dryer and complex wine. It’s fine, but you can get the same for $15-20 bottles.

Balthazar of Barossa Marananga is very reminiscent of Penfolds Bin 150 Marananga Shiraz that is much more expensive. It is not quite as full bodied as the Penfolds but is a good style from this region. It is very good value at $30 but not at $36+. Buy it on special. You’ll do better with other wines around the $36+ price.

If you like a full-bodied Barossa Shiraz I would recommend Balthazar with confidence. May need to cellar for a year or two to produce its best on the pallet in my opinion, but ready now.
