2022 vintage: the cooler climate Chardonnay grapes were fermented using wild yeasts, then aged in oak casks, but the oak influence on its flavour profile is minimal. In fact, there is a general lack of character and intensity.

I bought this wine after trying and loving Parker Chardonnay on a Great Southern Adelaide to Brisbane train trip which showcased Australian wines. The Parker chardonnay on the train trip (see wine menu from the train below) certainly wasn’t the same as that sold through Dan Murphy, which was so undrinkable, I had to tip it down the sink. What a waste of $24.

This is a reasonable example of a Coonawarra chardonnay. It ticks most of my boxes and comes from one of the better known wineries in Coonawarra (we were there 3 months ago). This rating is based on value for money and on that basis you should not be disappointed.
