A very average Whisky. The hype is the marketing, just ok as a mixer but definitely not something for those who enjoy good whiskey.

Theories vary on when Maker’s Mark became readily available in Australia, but it showed up at our store sometime in 2008. Back then, amid a proverbial desert of mediocre Bourbon, stumbling across Maker’s felt like tripping over a lost Ark, if the contents were 90 proof and actually drinkable. My feelings about the core line have since evolved (another review for another time), but for years I approached “46” with the kind of caution usually reserved for ill-advised movie sequels. Then came the moment of reckoning - its own Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull experience: Oak. French Oak. Bad French Oak. And far too much of it. Nearly everything that made the original appealing - refined presence, understated warmth, that toasty vanilla bliss - is buried under a blanket of overbearing char and sharp, ethanol-forward heat. Don’t accept this as a gift. Don’t buy it thinking “surely it can’t be that bad.” Cast it back into the dunes, like a curse best forgotten.

The original is still the best for me.nothing else competes.

Never had the cheaper one , got roped into all the hype about this one , tried it straight with ice and with tiny bit of water , just tasted of strong alcohol , I would of been better off buying the cheaper one, added coke to it and it was really nice , but I’m guessing cheaper one would be much the same , don’t get roped in with these caramel, vanilla and oak flavours, you don’t taste them , just go for the cheaper one

Very very nice . Smoother . Definitely recommend good starter for someone wanting to start there Bourbon journey
