Having learned to mix the perfect mojito in Havana some 20 years ago, my go-to rum was always the Havana Club Añejo Blanco. As this is no longer available in Australia, the next best rum for mojito is this Añejo 3 Años - slightly higher alcohol content (40% compared to 37.5%) and some yellow colouring (compared to the crystal-clear Blanco). Compared to other white rums, this is still the best option for mojito cocktails, though the yellow tinge does put me off a little (hence the 4 stars). If you're going to mix a Cuban mojito, stick to a genuine Cuban white rum, and currently this is the best one available in Australia.

Great in cocktails. Different to the Caribbean rums like Bacardi. More of a mixer and Not a straight sipping rum

Great alternative to Bacardi Rum. This is much nicer and more flavoursome. I use this rum for the best Mojitos.

i prefer to drink spirits neat so this didnt quite live up to all the hype for me. Definitely not as smooth as some make it out to be and not as enjoyable as the anejo especial. For cocktails which require a light rum its an excellent choice though.

This is an awesome bottle of rum. Goes great in a mojito or daquari, and works well as a vodka alternative to add a bit more nuance to a drink.

I would always choose Havana Club over Bacardi. Although i’m happy to drink both. Perfect for mojitos. Dan murphys needs to start stocking the 1 litre bottles.
