Has all the flavours exactly as described. Lots of flavour, decent acid and tannins. Would recommend this to anyone wanting to try Italian wine.

Having tried and loved the primitivo from Masseria I thought I would try this because it was medium bodied and less alcoholic. What a mistake! It is off dry, almost semi sweet and for me undrinkable. I threw it away after pouring the first glass.

2019 vintage, decanted for 30 minutes: this is really a beautiful and easy-to-love wine, especially for the price - it has body, character and some complexity, but in a very versatile (in terms of pairings) and approachable way...this is one of my favourite genres of wines that I call "gentle giants" (along with many petit verdot wines) - fuller-bodied wines that manage to go down soft but still bring an abundance of fruit and flavour...tactfully bold, you might call it. We had it with some simple red-sauce pasta, with a generous topping of parmesan, and the strength of the parmesan paired so beautifully with it...without the parmesan I think it might have overpowered the dish. But any rich/strongly-flavoured red pizza, pasta or meat dish would be right at home with this wine - I can imagine it would be an absolute DREAM with a capricciosa pizza, and its olives and anchovies. A lovely wine to share with friends or family over a meal, would definitely buy again.
