Thoroughly enjoyable twist on a traditional favourite and definitely worth trying well past first taste

I thought it is not something that I like but I seriously started loving over the years.

This is a terrible thing to do to an intrinsically excellent Scotch. What Next? Strawberry flavor?! Taste, in one word: awful.

A 1-star Glenfiddich! Impossible. So I couldn’t resist buying. The colour: deep copper; the nose: medium medicinal peatiness, a bit like Islay, breathe it in to get the rum tinge, so far so good. Then the palate: strong, sour aftertaste for the first few mouthfuls, you need to acclimatise to it. The heat is not from the peat. I could barely notice the smokiness. Some describe the influence of “the traditional fruits of Glenfiddich”. I agree. Its like those fruits mixed with a dash of ordinary rum. I had a Benriach Smoky 10 on the go (it’s also a peated, Speyside, ex-bourbon, ex-rum) and was expecting to compare it to the Fire & Cane, but there’s no point. The F&C is in a weird world of its own. Water only makes it drinkable. I'm now scared to try anything outside the Flagship Collection.
