My partner is Czech, so good beer is basically a cultural expectation in our house. (For anyone who doesn't know: the original Budweiser is actually Czech Budvar. The Americans later copied the name and recipe… so Czech beer really is the gold standard!) This Burleigh x Czech Mates collab is such a brilliant idea. We love supporting local microbrewers and would always prefer to back the little guys over a massive multinational. And honestly? It tastes so good. Crisp, clean, proper Czech-style lager done beautifully on the Gold Coast. Will be buying again and again! 🍻

Five stars from me. Give it a go better than most European beers available in Australia.

Such a good collaboration. What is amazing is that the Aussie malt used actually makes this taste closer to a Pilsner Urquell rather than a Budvar lager. Brings back those great summer memories in Prague. If you are missing Pilsner Urquell give this a try.

The memories came flooding back after having a few sips. I was dubious in trying something that was brewed in Australia to taste like a Czech Lager. Burleigh Brewing absolutely nailed it. A true testament to the hard work being done on the Gold Coast to replicate the Budvar Lager.

When you collaborate with the best you are going to finish with an incredible beer. Highly flavoursome, traditionally hopped Lager. Only complaint and possible roadblock to purchasing more is the Un-Australian, un-mate like 330ml bottle. Glass is half empty from the get go, shouldn't be allowed!
