This is a variation on Red Label, almost certainly taking the same distillate but maturing or finishing in rye barrels (and I bet some bourbon barrels as well). The nose is like Red Label but fuller and with a definite whiff of bourbon. The palate is the opposite - a very strongly bourbon sweet flavour with a background of scotch. Despite the name and the label information there is very little if any of the typical rye spiciness about this whisky. It is much more like it has been finished in wet ex-bourbon barrels. If you like bourbon you will probably like this, and at the price it is reasonable value. Just be aware that it is sweet rather than dry in presentation.

Tastes too much like a bourbon, not in the league with the other Johnnie Walker range.

This is smooth enough to drink straight but also makes a perfect Manhattan or Rob Roy. Very tasty for price point. Not a huge bold flavour for those Islay fans etc, a nicely rounded flavour with caramel and honey notes. Delicious.

Very smooth and you feel the taste. It is so good you really enjoy and entertain while tasting it. Much better than many products available at this or even higher range.

What can be said about this mother of all Scotch. I have been long time Johnny Walker ever since my university days in Suva. I tasted it all, Black, Gold and even Blue. But I think this one is right up there. I had a gathering with family and friends where we drank this with cola and enjoy some nice spicy curries to accompany. Nothing like after being on the road all day to come home and pour one of these beauties.
