Hard to work out the blend to call this a Rhone shiraz or a Bordeaux red in a less tannic mode. My guess, from knowledge of the Hawkes Bay region, it's a Cabernet, Merlot and some Shiraz thrown in that gives the spice. For those who prefer their red wine supple, rather than heavier and rich. Plenty of flavour (same spectrum as per the 2014 review above) and a very moreish drink due to the suppleness for me.

Aromas of ripe plum, spicy oak, and blackberry - yep all of that and a lot more. A really smooth all round red that everyone that tasted at the table gave a nod of appreciation to. Recommend it and the Union White Blend is pretty good too.
