I was lucky to see this at $12 for a six pack in the specials bin. Most of the specials are in the high teens which may be special at the six pack price but not x4 for a carton. But $48 for a carton of 4 Pines ?? Great value.

The hop dry flavour comes through. Not so sweet, you can taste this beer...

Their transformation into a blandish beer is almost complete. I honestly don't know if they've changed the recipe of this but i remember it being a more interesting beer a few years ago and i thought it had a nice little hops kick which is probably not to style but was still nice. Picked up 6 again today and they taste exactly like XXXX gold!? You can really taste the super pride hops which is the typical aussie beer bitterness in a lot of beers but not much of anything else. Maybe the slightest hint of European noble hops but honestly calling this Kolsch and marketing it as some kind of craft beer is stretching the truth to say the least. Its a shame as their Pal Ale is not a bad beer and truer to its style than this Kolsch.

I think they have done an excellent job of balancing different aspects within the beer i.e. isn't 'too' much of anything but still manages to display decent key flavours without letting any of them overpower the beer! Lovely drinking.

While this beer is a nice beer to drink, it is certainly not a European Kolsch. If you have visited Cologne In Germany will know what it tastes like.
