Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon is not spoken about as often as Margaret River or Coonawarra, but I think it's something of a hidden gem. So much flavour, with rich black berries, anise, cherry, vanilla and spice. And the tannins are so silky rather than dry or chewy. Whether it's a friends place for a bbq, dinner with my wife, or a few bottles for the cellar, Langmeil Blacksmith is one of my go-to wines.

Although the Barossa is perhaps better known for great Shiraz, I reckon this Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon is amongst the best around. It is all about the quality of the vines, the fruit and the ageing in up to 10 different French and American used and new oak casks. Unlike most winemakers Langmeil keep their casks for up to 10 years instead of renewing them every three. This is the real point of difference with this superb Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon. It results in very complex balanced flavours and the longest smoothest finish you could imagine. Do yourself a favour and get some soon.
