Lovely nose of ripe dark fruits and something like tar. You can get a sense of the earth in which it was grown, which I suspect is quite chalky and gravelly soil. A full mouth feel that lingers on the palate. The finish is long and the tannins fine and persistent. A good one to cellar for a couple more years to allow better integration. But this is a pleasure to drink now and the spicy and ripe flavours had me reaching for a refill until I'd nearly drunk the lot!

Given a good breathe, a lovely food wine. Just middleweight but honest fruit and well structured. Not too lean and savoury to shock Oz palates. Thinking of a poor man's Pinot with eyes shut and facing Europe. Suspect tempranillo will be a very interesting performer in Aust. when the vines get a bit older. In the interim am happy to support the struggling Euro.
