Sourced from cool-climate Yarra Valley vineyards and crafted in a more restrained, perfumed style, this is a smooth and sophisticated red wine made to be savoured rather than shouted about. Deep crimson in colour, the wine opens with lifted aromas of white pepper, raspberry and red currant before rolling into plush flavours of cherry compote, loganberry and spice. Soft tannins and restrained oak keep things silky, bright and very drinkable.Predominantly hand-picked fruit from both upper and lower Yarra Valley vineyards underwent cold soaking and partial whole bunch fermentation to build perfume and complexity, before 10 months maturation in French oak with minimal new oak influence preserving freshness and finesse. This is a red wine for people who like their reds smooth, spicy and just a little bit edgy.
